An original, handmade linoprint of Ballard Down and the path winding up towards it in late summer.
This is one of my favourite stretches of the South West Coast Path, overlooking Swanage Bay — and a landscape that feels very much like home. I was lucky enough to grow up with this view on my doorstep.
My Mum and I would often walk up here in the evenings and sit on the old stone bench halfway up the cliffs, looking out across the bay. It’s a simple memory, but one that has stayed with me, and makes this place particularly special to our family.
This print is part of a limited edition of just 18, each one hand-printed by me in Dorset.
A little piece of the Dorset coast, made by hand. 🌿
This is printed by hand from a hand-carved lino block using traditional printing techniques. It is a six-layer reduction linocut, a method of block printing in which each colour layer is taken from the same block. More lino is removed from the block for each layer and each colour is printed on top of the last. This means that an entire edition must be printed in one go – once you have carved into the block for the next layer, you can’t go back to print more.
As each print is made by hand, prints may vary slightly and contain minor imperfections - this is all part of the printmaking process.
Please note that unmounted prints will be posted rolled, wrapped in tissue paper.
